Our company, with its headquarters and production center in Kanjiža, has been continuously strengthening its position among the leaders of the wood industry in Serbia for more than two decades. Today, we employ 260 workers of all profiles, from highly qualified engineers, craftsmen, and technicians to young talents just entering the industry, building success together on the principles of cooperation, knowledge, and trust.

Our development began in the wholesale and retail trade of paints and varnishes. In 2011, we made a significant leap that shaped the future growth of the company: the integration and complete modernization of our packaging factory in Kanjiža. This strategic investment enabled us to offer a wide range of products from our own production, wooden pallets of all dimensions, poplar veneer, plywood, and pressed blocks. Through continuous investment in equipment quality, skilled personnel, and raw material supply, we are constantly increasing our capacity and competitiveness, opening doors to the demanding European market.

The foundation of our quality lies in knowledge and experience, as well as investment in modern technologies. We operate the most advanced kiln for wood drying and heat treatment, along with automated lines that guarantee high precision and consistency in every product. Our products meet strict domestic and international standards, earning the trust of numerous clients both in Serbia and abroad.

The factory is organized into four specialized production units:

  • Wooden pallet production – we manufacture pallets of all dimensions, tailored to customer needs;
  • Veneer production – focused on premium poplar veneer for various industrial applications;
  • Plywood production – utilizing state-of-the-art technology and quality control;
  • Pressed block production – an ecological and innovative solution for the packaging industry.

Cost-Effectiveness
of Raw Material Transport

Efficient raw material supply is crucial for the sustainability and competitiveness of any modern wood processing company. At Demka Trade, we have strategically opted for multiple methods of transporting timber to the factory, with river transport on the Tisa River being one of the most significant. This represents both the most economical and environmentally rational solution for our production needs.

The Tisa, the longest tributary of the Danube and one of the main rivers of Central Europe, flows through the fertile plains of the Pannonian Basin, providing access to natural resources with minimal logistics costs. Our location in Vojvodina further simplifies material handling, as the Tisa naturally divides Bačka and Banat, offering optimal connectivity with regional and European markets.

The advantages of river transport are numerous:

  • Cost-effectiveness: Fuel consumption in river transport is only 17% compared to road or rail. This efficiency directly reduces logistics costs per unit of raw material.

  • Cargo safety: Water transport provides stable conditions and minimizes the risk of damage to goods, which is especially important for sensitive or high-value loads. It eliminates the risk of damage caused by road irregularities, vibrations, or other external factors.

  • Capacity and reliability: River barges, also known as push boats, are designed for transporting heavy and bulky loads of large volumes. A typical barge delivering logs to our factory measures 25.78 x 5.35 meters and is powered by a 26 kW engine. These solutions allow the transport of large quantities of raw materials in a single cycle, with a low transfer cost per ton of material.

Using river barges as the primary means of delivering timber ensures that Demka Trade benefits from reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable logistics, thereby improving our operational sustainability and reducing the company’s overall carbon footprint. Our commitment to supply chain optimization once again confirms that innovation and responsibility are the foundation of every long-term success.

Handling Equipment Used for Loading, Unloading, and Transshipment of Goods

For efficient management of raw materials and finished products, Demka Trade relies on a modern logistics infrastructure and specialized handling equipment designed to meet the high demands of the wood processing industry.

For all key loading, storage, and transportation operations, forestry cranes are used for wood handling, enabling safe and precise loading and unloading of logs. These cranes feature powerful hydraulic drives and robust construction, making them a reliable solution for daily industrial use. Two forestry cranes in our fleet are designed to operate with medium-sized tractors and are adapted for handling heavy loads. Their professional geometry and power ensure safe handling of logs of various dimensions, guaranteeing high efficiency and minimizing the risk of material damage.

In the transshipment chain, Ursus tractors, models 1604, 1614, and 1214, play an especially important role. These tractors, known for their durability and high power, are designed to meet the most demanding logistics and heavy load-handling challenges. The name “Ursus” (meaning bear) symbolically reflects their robustness and reliability in operation. Thanks to this advanced equipment fleet, timber is quickly and evenly distributed in the log storage area, ensuring optimal material flow and efficient organization of the entire production process.

The combination of modern cranes and tractors provides Demka Trade with operational stability and flexibility, while offering customers and partners security and continuity in deliveries, regardless of the scale and complexity of logistical tasks.

Layout, Size, and Interconnection of Technological Areas for Receiving, Storing, Sorting, Processing, Refining, and Shipping Goods

Optimizing the logistics chain and rational organization of space are key prerequisites for production efficiency and competitiveness at Demka Trade. Our logistics infrastructure is designed so that every step, from receiving raw materials to delivering finished products, functions as part of a coordinated system.

The temporary transshipment area of Demka Trade is located on cadastral plot 5/1 in the Kanjiža municipality and plays a strategic role in receiving oversized cargo, primarily logs, which, due to technical limitations, cannot be handled by standard transport means. This area, covering about 4,000 m², is dedicated exclusively to transshipment activities, unloading, sorting, and temporary storage of raw materials, ensuring a high level of organization and safety.

After unloading, logs are sorted by dimension and quality, enabling a selective and precise subsequent production process. Temporary storage at this site is connected to the production plant by a conveyor belt, ensuring fast and controlled transfer of raw materials directly to the processing line.

Upon completion of primary processing, semi-finished and finished products are forwarded to drying, where a controlled process ensures optimal material moisture content. Dried finished products are then stored in specialized warehouses, and from there, they are shipped by road to customers both domestically and internationally.

This well-designed and interconnected technological setup ensures an uninterrupted flow of materials through all stages, from raw material intake to finished product dispatch, allowing Demka Trade to guarantee maximum efficiency, a high level of quality control, and reliable deliveries.
